How to deal with ESB bill dispute

While our house was being built the ESb bill for the new build was coming to our then address.
After we moved we neglected to inform the ESB so the bills continued to go to the old address.

We then realised we had not received a bill and I contacted the ESB and they sent me a bill.

It was for over €900.

I paid this bill in total. In fact I rang the ESB with an up to date meter reading.

On my latest bill I was in credit for the cost of the ESb but there was a charge of €125 + VAT labelled disconnection/reconnection fee.

When I queried this I was told that as there were numerous bills included I should have been disconnected and would have to pay the fee.

But we were never disconnected and reconnected.

I said I would not pay this fee as my bill had been paid in full.

They then sent me an ammeded bill with a fee of €63 + VAT. labelled engineer's fee.

I have asked to speak to someone re this and was told I would be called back but have not received a call as yet.

I looked at their website and it lists addresses to write to. I just need to decide which address to write to now. There are a few.

Has anyone had an experience like this with the ESB.

It seems very strange that they can apply fees to the bill without any rational explanation.

ESB Customer supply in the first instance. If you don't get a satisfactory response go to the energy regulator.
