How to date Irish chest of drawers

I have a chest of drawers that I was told was Irish and late 18th century when I bought it. Doesn't look that old to my untrained eye (watching all those episodes of Lovejoy doesn't seem to have helped at all). Has anyone any guidlines of what to look for to date an Irish chest of drawers?

Take a photograph and description (eg what joins are used in the drawers? What's the back of the chest made of?) to a few antique dealers, see what they have to say.

You can bring a painting to The National Gallery (on Thursday mornings I think) an expert will have a look at it and discuss its provenance, perhaps they have a similar service in Collins Barracks for furniture? The Irish Georgian Society might also be able to direct you to someone with expertise in this area.

Hi Brouhahaha. Hopefully [broken link removed] link will help you sort out your dilemma.
