How to damp-proof a balcony under construction

Hi

Does anyone know of a good website that would claerly and simply outline how to construct and damp-proof a balcony?
I have consulted many builders but everyone's opinion seems to differ. The Homebond book is useful but I need more information.

its impossible to do properly without knowing exactly what the construction is....
