How to clean ski gear?

My ski pants got quite dirty the last time. Anyone know how to wash them without ruining the waterproof surface?
 
a wool wash with a tiny bit of fabric conditioner in it, then if you go to any of the shops that sell ski gear you can buy a spray that coats the surface again, you just spray it on. It smells wicked when you spray it but does the trick its called polar something, most of the shops sell it.
 
There are products made by Nikwax that are specifically designed for waterproof clothes. Tech Wash is a wash-in cleaner that you can use in the washing machine and it claims to revitalise breathability and water-repellency; there's another one called Softshell Proof for soft-shell clothing. www.nikwax.com will give the details of their various products.

We've bought it before in places that sell waterproof sports gear like ski shops, sailing shops etc.
