How safe is money on deposit in irish banks at the moment?

Hi,

I have deposit accounts in some of the Irish banks at the moment and am worried about what will happen to the money if the banks have to default if Europe will not lend them any money. Also what will happen now that the banks look likely to merge and the bank guarantee scheme only covers you for a set amount? Also have some money in Post Office bonds.
