How quickly can I get a replacemnt license?

I'm have booked a hire car in the UK this coming Thursday for a week. Just yesterday my handbag was stolen with my driver's license in it.

I know with a passport if you provide proof of travel they will provide an emergency service, does the same apply with my driver's license? I have searched Dublin City's website but there's no mention of it.

Has anyone had any experience of this or any suggestions?

my licence was stolen. i signed a form at my local garda station and took it to the motor tax office same day with signed passport photos (think they were signed) and got my licence renewed there and then. 1 day it took.
 
I am in Cork but when I lost my license I just took all my stuff - form, photos etc in and got a replacement straight away I assume Dublin is the same just make sure you get the guards to sign the relevent part (if neccessay) before you go in.


ETA: posted at the same time as shootingstar - must learn to type quicker!
