How much to pay for vouchers

Hi we are invited to a 40th birthday party in January i do not know what to buy for this female so i was thinking of giving her vouchers. What is the usual amount to give for this kind of birthday.

I think it depends on several factors...how close are you to the person? If it's a good friend then you'd need to obviously spend more than on someone you occasionally socialise with now and again. Also, what kind of 40th is it? A section of the pub cordoned off with little or no expense or a big lavish bash? Also, you seem to imply there are two of you going. Is you partner friends with the person also? If it's just a casual social friend i'd prob give a 50 euro voucher if going on my own. If it's a friend then a good bit more.

So many things to consider!!

I'd think long and hard about vouchers in the current climate - part of my birthday present from my daughter (€100 massage / health voucher) has gone west with the scum-bags who shut up shop overnight and did a runner owing rent, suppliers, voucher purchasers, etc. If I find them its ICU they'll need.

Thanks for all your ideas, i was a bit dubious about vouchers myself given the amount of places that could be gone south early in the new year. But i had a brain wave now maybe to give Prize Bonds, but still not sure of amount to give. Its a big bash in a 4 star hotel with dinner etc. I hope the hotel is still open for it as i have heard rumours that it may be closing.

If you are worried about shops going bust etc, vouchers for a large shopping centre(such as Dundrum) may be better - at least there will be a choice of stores.

I'm not a prize bonds person myself, as I've had them for years and never won anything.

What about an ALL FOR ONE Voucher from the Post Office?
