How much mileage should you expect?

A bit vague maybe - but how much mileage should you expect to get from your car?

Assuming the following: at least above average reliability in the first place, well maintained (e.g. regular servicing, minimal 'extreme' driving conditions, oil change every 5-6K miles etc) any rust promptly treated etc etc

Am aware that the older the car gets, high cost maintenance may arise that may deem repairs uneconomical against the car's value (e.g. timing belt) but that and 'bad luck' aside, should you expect to get 250,000 + miles or is that optimistic?

I would say that you definetely should get 250k on the more reliable makes - provided you look after it.
