According to the Revenue Website, the rent tax credit for a single person under 55 is 400/800

What does this mean?

Is it normally €400 but increased to €800 if the claimant has a dependent?

Hi Brendan,

Don't know about the 800 but the 400 figure is correct I claim this credit myself.

Aged <55/55+
Single 400/800

It is 400 for under 55's and 800 for over 55's.
