Hi,
Started driving my 2006 Volvo s40 yesterday and had a noise coming from under the bonnet like I was revving the crap out of the car when I stepped on the accelerator.
I took it to a garage and was told it was probably the power steering pump or a leak somewhere in the lines. Mechanic topped up with power steering fluid and said he would have a look tomorrow. The noise is now gone unless I lock the steering wheel. The car was due for a service a couple of weeks ago.
If the power steering pump has to be replaced how much should I expect to pay and if it's a leak how much should I expect to pay? Is it possible the car was just low on fluid as it was due to be serviced?
Thanks,
Nicky
