I'm currently on a variable rate Permanent TSB mortgage and paying 5.44%. I'm hoping to switch mortgage provider soon. Most other banks have much lower rates. I have €109k left on the mortgage and there's about 11 years left in the term.

My question is how much can I expect to pay for a solicitor to carry out the necessary paper work? I presume it would be less than what I'd pay if I was taking out a new mortgage. Thanks.

Thanks wbbs. That sounds like a lot. I was hoping it would be a bit less than that. Do any firms do it for a set fee?

Lots do, its usually 999 plus vat, I was rounding up!

What about the solicitor who did the work originally? I sometimes found the original solicitor might do it for a bit cheaper because they at least had done the work initially so maybe there is not as much checking needed.

Unfortunately the solicitor who did the original job passed away a few years ago. Maybe I should phone a few firms and ask them to quote.
