How much before paying tax?

Hi, how much are you allowed receive in a rent income before you have to declare tax to the revenue. If rent is at €1000 a month and for 12 months you get €12000, so if you do the maths, is it 40% of €12000, or what way does it go.?

All income must be declared for taxation purposes.

If you have rental income that does not qualify as tax-free under the rent-a-room relief scheme, then the rental income less allowable expenses ( revenue have a guide on this at www.revenue.ie) is added to your other income as the "top slice" and is taxes at the appropriate rates.
