how many blocks do i need?

hi, i am building a low garden wall 65m long and 3 blocks high, how many block will i need and do i need to re-enforce the wall?

Many questions need to be answered first, the above no. of blocks depends on baldymans other queries, also the follwoing,

Whats the relationship between top level of foundation & existing ground level, ie. do you need a rising wall?

height of the wallwill be approx 1 metre, i have pour a footing already,approx 8inches deep. the area behing the wall will be raised,at one side there will be the front garden, topsoil and grass and on the other side will be a raised patio. i have crushed stone as a base for the patio paving layed, will be adding approx 4 inchs of sand next

OK, its going to be retaining the patio so. This will need to be built with a block on flat, therefore 3 courses of block won't give you the required 1 metre height, you will need 9 courses (as Pope John pointed out with his questions) above the level of your lawn. This would rise to 11 courses if you have allowed for roughly 8 inches of topsoil over your foundation.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with piers on this wall, lay a land drainage pipe bedded and surrounded with 20mm sandstone behind the wall to take any water. Make sure that the wall is well gone off before you start laying and compactine the hardcore. Give it a few days.

Going on the above, you will require approx. 1850 blocks, allowing for waste.
