Does anyone know if there is any guidelines for the amount of time it should take for a warranty repair?
I was given a camera as a present last March. The battery life on the camera has never been particularly good but the last time I was able to use it, it only lasted a couple of hours and then after the next charge it wouldn't work at all. The camera was not cheap and extended warranty was also purchased (something I don't believe in myself as I used to work for a company that sold these and the margins are huge, which is why they push it on customers so heavily).
I had the receipt & took it back to another supplier - all branches of the shop it was purchased in have been closed or taken over I'm not sure, so it was returned to a "sister" company.
This was 16 days ago and I was told in the shop that it should be back before Xmas but a couple of pages into the paperwork, it says it could be 35 days. This is pretty annoying for me as I have a wedding of a close friend and some holidays coming up, which I now will not have a camera for.
To me it seems pretty unacceptable that I don't have my product for 35 days. E.g. - a couple of weeks ago I had a problem with my washing machine (which might I add was only marginally more expensive that this camera) and someone was out to fix it in a couple of days.
I did suggest that the company give me a camera on loan, which they were not prepared to do. What annoys me more was when I spoke to someone last week, I asked him what he could do for me if my camera was not back in time and he said he would cross that bridge if it came to it, when what he can do for me is NOTHING and I would have preferred if he had told me that last week instead of acting as if it was possible he would be able to do something.
