Forgive me if this has been covered in previous postings.
The company where I work have 2 plant shutdowns planned, one of 2 weeks and another of 3 weeks, for this year and possibly 2 more.
We have been given several options as to how we could "take" the days required.
We can take holidays -- drawing forward from the coming year.
We can take a reduced payment each week -- for example-- paid for 30 hours rather than 39. Thereby saving holiday hours etc.
Or we can take whatever hours we have worked up this calender year.
And finally we take whatever hours we have worked up/left and for the remainder/shortfall we can claim SW payments.
I have elected to take the last option. I know that when applying for SW you lose the 1st 3 days, and As we have at least 2 shutdowns planned this year my query is will have to lose 3 days again for each of the subsequent shutdowns, if i elect to take holiday hours and the remainder as SW.
(hope that makes sense)
I have rang our local SW office and have been bounced around from dept to dept and gotten a different answer each time..
I was wondering if anybody has any experience of same ?
