How long can i stay uninsured before loosing my no claim

Hi there,
I am currently insured with my car and have 7 years no claim bonus.
Am selling my car but not planning to buy one right away. How long can I stay uninsured before loosing my no claim ?

Note: I am still insured as a second driver on my spouse car.

Normally 2 yrs. Then the NCD expires. Sometimes, in my experience, (but not always) underwriters might make a very special exception if you have continued to drive claims free as a named driver and can prove it. This might be marginally over the 2 yr limit (ie 3yrs). Ask your current insurer if this may be an option for you.
