How long before I can move in?

Hello all,

While our house went sale agreed about 7 weeks ago, there was a problem with the deeds and our solicitor has only received the binding contracts this week. He says he has a few questions but expects us to sign next week at some stage.

The house we are buying is currently unoccupied (no chain etc,). Realistically, how long do you think it should take to get everything finalised?. As someone who is renting its causing us a bit of worry in case we choose a date and it is not realised. We will have nowhere to stay!!

Thanks for your help
Best regards
G

I don't understand your post. You seem to be saying that the house you are buying is unoccupied but then seem to mention somebody renting (it?). Can you clarify please? I would have assumed that you can move in once the sale closes and your solicitor should be able to advise when this is likely to be.

The house I am buying is unoccupied.
The house I am living in is rented.
I was just wondering how long it should take before we can move in. We are due to sign the initial contracts next week. Perhaps someone on this forum was in a similar position and could have told me how long it took them.

Thanks again ;-)

My advice would be to keep pressure on your solicitor so that this sale moves as quickly as possible.
