How long are JB claims taking to process

I was made redundant in the last week of October and signed on the first week in Nov, as I was only working 3 days a week and was getting JB for the other days my claim was sorted within a week. However as my husband is also not working we sent in a claim for an dependant adult but todate have heard nothing. We were originally told it would take 6 - 8 weeks but it is nearly 10 weeks now, have tried ringing them for the last 2 weeks but no-one answers the phone. The actual office is no where near where I live and with the weather being so bad I haven't been able to call in. Does anyone know if this is the normal waiting time for claims.

This is not aclaim as such. It is a review of entitlement to an existing claim and you should enquire about the progress on it when you next sign on. The pressure of work on individual offices varys from office to office so impossible to say a waiting time for a decision.

I sign on in a small office in Lucan which is only open 3 days a month but the claims are dealt with in Clondalkin, I'm due to sign on next week will the lucan office be able to check the progress of his claim. I know that Clondalkin isn't a million miles away but when you don't drive it's not easy to get there as there is no direct bus, so its a three bus journey there and they same back.
