Hi have just been back to the Labour as my wifes earning have been reduced by €60 per week. She now earns €173. Initially I was given JB (€204) + payment for a Qualified adult giving a total of €291.30. After being reassessed I now get €272.41.

After questioning this I was told tht they made a mistake which was only foud when I reported the change in circumstances. I have now had to rethink our budget to try and compensate for the €19 reduction. Luckily they did not come after me for the overpaid monies.

Does anyone know how this extra payment is calculated?

Thanks a million gipimann. It looks like they have calculated it wrong from looking at the table in SW19 booklet. I will take it up with the Social Welfare Officer.

I have again questioned the benefit payment with Social Welfare after being directed to SW19 booklet by gipimann. They told me that they calculated my wifes earnings by dividing her gross pay by the number of weeks (41 - as we are now in week 41). This resulted in a higher weekly figure than she currently earns (about €40 more in fact !)

Surely they cannot count earnings accrued before I signed on in April? If that were the case and she happened to be earning say €500 per week bearlier in the year (before April) then now I would get nothing for her. Surely the benefit should be calculated on the current income?

Anyways they have agreed to take another look at our situation.
