How is it possible to open bank account without an esb Bill?

I want to open a new credit union account but I was told I need a utility bill I however am renting a room in a house and any Bills like that don't come in my name.How does one get around this?
 
If you have any bills going to your parents house then maybe you could use them? But then any credit union correspondence would go there too.
I don't know much on the subject so feel free to correct me!

Would you have any other bill linking you to address:

Tv Licence.
Broadband.
Credit Card.
Other bank accounts
Driving licence
Motor tax
Residence parking permit.
Passport
Tax credit certificate/balancing statement

Even if you dont have house bill, Passport/Driving licence should cover it or ask credit union what is acceptable as this must be a common query to them

Rent book should be acceptable.
 
You can get multiple names added to an ESB bill.

At one stage I had 3 names of tenants on an ESB bill.

So even if you are not paying the ESB bill your name can be on the bill.
 
person with the bill can write a letter stating that you are living at that address and give a copy of that bill then
 
I opened a bank account a couple of years ago with Permanent TSB with a tax credit cert instead of a utility bill so maybe you can do the same with the credit union
 
The utility bill can be used to cover the bank's/credit unions legal requirement to confirm where you live. Any state issued document should suffice if you don't have a bill going to your current address, failing that any credit card bill/bank statement going to where you live should be enough
