How do you value a company?

Hi All,

A friend of mine has been offered the opportunity to buy into a company (Partnership 70%/30%). The company is less than a year old.

My question is how does he know if the amount asked for the share is fair? There would be equitment as assets and I guess a few months revenue / P&L and forcast revenue from booked clients.

Is there anything else he should consider?
