How can you claim state pension from uk

My father worked in the uk for 3-4 years in 1960's. Can he claim a uk state pension for contributions made during that time? He doesnt know his social insurance number for that employment. He is getting a full irish state pension. Anyone know what he should do?
 
Yes he can make an application to Newcastle. Give as much detail as possible, Name, DOB, Name and Address of employer,dates he worked there etc. They will send you back an application form (probably with your N.I. number on it.)
It takes a long time to process so you need to have patience, but if you are eligible they will pay the pension from the date they receive the application or age 65 whichever is first.

As he is already getting his full Irish pension (from Sligo) there is no further benefit to be gained from them therefore he should make his application to Newcastle for his UK Pension
 
Sorry, BlackSheep, thought you had to apply in the country that you are resident in.
Newcastle very often just tell people to go back and make their application through Sligo. Maybe it depends on who they get on the phone at the DSS :)
