Household Benefits Package

I am 23 and receiving Jobseekers Benefit. I want to move to live with my grandfather who is 82, living alone and receiving Old Age Contributory Pension. My grandfather is in good health but main reason for the move is just to help him out,keep an eye on and be company for him. He is receiving the household benefits package.

My question is would my moving in with him result in him losing the household benefits package? Also he gets a living alone allowance. I presume he would lose this if I move in. Should he notify SW about this or just leave it alone? Many thanks for reading this and any advice resulting will be appreciated.

I think your grandfather will keep the package as he is over 70, my elderly parent has it and a sibling of mine still lives at home with my parent.

your grandfather is not entitled to the living alone allowance if you move in, but its up to him whether to inform social protection or not, if he wants to abide by the rules.......
