house insurance , claimed 3 yrs ago

Hi All
I had a claim on my house insurance 3 years ago , my insurance is up for renewal and is quite expensive AGAIN , i believe most insurance companies wont even quote me as ive had a claim ? is this the case ? i mean it was 3 yrs ago altho it was over 20k , any help much appreciated

A claim in the past 3 years is unlikely to mean that you cannot get insurance at all. Some underwriters may add a loading though. Many do so for having claims in the past 3-7 years. Have you not tried some of the online insurance offerings mentioned in the many other threads on home insurance to get an idea of the loading (i.e. enter your details without and then with details of the claim in the last three years)? Obviously you should not lie when applying (i.e. not divulge such claims if asked) since this will render your cover null and void.
