About 3 years ago I lost a necklace which was itemised on my mum's house insurance, no idea where it went just went to look for it one day and it was gone. We got the forms from the insurance co but I never got around to completing them, don't know why just didn't. Is it okay to claim for it now, or will they say hang on you lost it 3 years ago why are you only claiming it now, i guess what I'm asking is is there a timeframe in which you have to claim?

Most insurance companies will specify a time limit in which you have to claim. Typically this within a matter of months from the date of the event, unless there's a practical reason why the claim was delayed. You can check in the policy conditions what the time limit is for making claims on your policy.
