Trying to identify the costs of connecting up services to the house. When you pay the county council fees does this include installation of the water to the house?

Sewage - doing my own sewage tank.

ESB is one separate cost that has to be paid directly to the ESB?? Correct?

ESB will cost in region of €1300 and in wexford I paid €700 for water connection. These were in addition to the County Levies

As above, the ESB is in around €1300

Installing your own package plant or septic tank wont cost you anything extra in service charges

The water question: If this is for a new house you will have been levied with a development contribution as part of your planning permission - this is effectively a charge for the upkeep of the water supply in the area. When you apply for the actual connection you will be asked for a seperate fee which includes the costs of connection to the mains water pipe together with a charge for opening road/verge/footpath. Generall this connection charge is usually a few hundred euro but it varies depending on which county you are in.

Would anyone know how much it is to connect to the water - not the county council fee. Living in County Kildare. I presume the county council needs to be contacted on this?

Hi, we are confused with regard to the cost of connecting the ESB, we have been charged and paid €2,364 for installing ours, standard connection, didn't even need a pole or anything as quite a few houses on our road. My husband is convinced we were overcharged. We live in county Louth if that makes a difference. Do you think we were over charged and if so, how do we find out. If I ring them up and state this, they will probably tell me to run and jump or is this the standard fee, it just seems everybodies elses is a grand less than ours???

I'am expecting to pay around €1500 for a connection fee? Is this unrealistic then? co. wexford
The ESB have a fixed charge for new domestic connections which is around that figure I believe.

However if more than 3 poles are needed to bring the supply to the site/premises then there are additional charges.

Abbica I paid same as you. I have a heat pump and went for the 16kva supply over the standard 12kva which would have been around 1500. The extra will stop the heat pump draining power from the rest of electric supply (lights etc) when pump kicks in.

Nutty nut, trying to keep threads down by not duplicating, so not as nuts as you thought!!

Thanks very much, we have actually got the 16kva prob cause we have a heat pump, so you explained that reason. I wouldn't mind, but my husband is an electrician!! It is probably just by chance, that everybody we asked must of had the 12kva installed, hence the €1,500 quote.
