I recently stayed there not by choice, the hotel we orginally booked into was overbooked (something I find strange)and we were sent there. The rooms are very small and had a weird smell like varnish and smelly feet. I would not stay there again.
I stayed in the simple and pleasant Hotel Batory in Krakow. It was inexpensive, clean, the staff were helpful, a buffet breakfast was provided, and it was only about a two or three minute walk from both the railway station and the town centre. Recommended. (Well, suited me fine, anyway!)
