Hi,

I have booked a hotel in Ballina for 3 nights in Late July. Were staying at the Ridgepool Hotel and since I have booked it, I have read horrible reviews and wonder should I cancel. Has anyone stayed there with a positive response?

As per my recent post, it is advisable to check out online reviews such as .
In this particular case, I can concur with the negative views expressed on there.

It looks like he/she read the reviews after he/she booked. A bit late then.

Depends on the cancellation policy for the hotel I suppose. Don't lots of hotels give you up to 24hrs beforehand to cancel without charge?

Looking at their website, there's a 10% booking deposit which is non-refundable, with the balance payable when you stay. Could take the 10% hit to cancel maybe, if the place is not to your taste?

I stayed in the Ridgepool. I reviewed it on Tripadvisor. As far as I can remember the pool was terrible, the room was OK and the staff were not the friendliest. However, I got the room for something like 70 euro (I think) for the night.......

there are plenty of other great hotels in Mayo + surrounding counties

Thanks everyone.
I cancelled and only lost 20e
wasn't taking the chance but will still go up that way this summer.
