Hotel Colon Barcelona

Hi

Has anyone stayed in the Hotel Colon in Barcelona? If so, would you recommend it. We are going away on a short break and when I was looking up four star hotels in the city this one came up. I like the "look" of it, but it might be deceptive!!!

Colon? sounds like a dump to me.
 
Columbus (i.e. the Explorer) is known as Colon in Spain, hence the name of the hotel
 
tripadvisor.com rates it moderately as around 70th out of 400. It also states its a 3star. The reviews however are generally ok and the prices I checked for an impending visit to Barcelona myself in march are ok. Location is good, but I think there may be better choices.

sunday times said to make sure and ask for a room with a view of the cathedral. don't know how close it is.
