Can anyone recommend (based on personal experience) a nice tourist class hotel with parking in Monterey CA?

Also, for Las Vegas NV, I’ll be there for only one or two nights, before flying out. Can anyone recommend one (based on personal experience) an airport hotel or would I be better staying downtown (I’ve no interest in gambling)?

Havent stayed in monterey, it is beautiful part of the world though.

As for vegas, Ive stayed in the Luxor, which is very close to McCarran Airport(check out google maps). Booked it through vegas.com last year got a great deal about $30/night. It is what it is though, a giant pyramid shaped hotel, casino, pool and leisure facilities, food court, shows and exhibitions.

Tropicana, MGM Grand, NewYork NewYork, Excalibur hotels are also very close by. If all you want is a place to stay for a night or two, these complexes should have everything you need. And you should be able to get them very cheap.
The hotels are very large and so are a touch impersonal but I had no problems during my stay.
Hard to avoid the gambling in Vegas as most hotels are designed that you must walk through the casino to get to your room, but just keep the head down, keep walking and decline the free drinks from the scantily-clad waitresses!!

Monterey Plaza hotel & spa - it is fabulous - have lunch in the sun on the terrace, fabulous salad and glass of chilled white. Then pop down to bubba gumps shrimp factory for a feed of shrimp in the evening.

Las Vegas - If I was going again I would stay in the Venetian.

I passed up on kudos’s recommendation (post #3) to stay in the Monterey Plaza hotel in Monterey. We stayed in the Jabberwock Inn [http://www.jabberwockinn.com/] (B&B) that I highly recommend to anyone staying in Monterey / Cannery Row. I also recommend the Sea Harvest restaurant [ http://www.yelp.com/biz/sea-harvest-fish-market-and-restaurants-monterey], basically a fish shop with a fish resto attached, a few blocks away.
In Vegas we stayed in New York New York, but if I were going again and they had a cheaper rate I’d stay in the Paris hotel.

I have stayed in Vegas three times; a different hotel each time: New York New York, MGM and Ballys all good hotels

MGM would probably be the best for all round facilities/casino, Ballys would be best for location as it is at the centre of the Strip but to be honest, I would have no problems staying in any of these hotels again in the future.
