Hot water zone - not working

Hi all

Our house is less than 12 months completed and we are having a problem with water heating. We have oil heating and a back boiler stove both of which are tied into a 3 zone heating system with a key pad panel to operate in the utility room. Recently when we tried to turn on the oil heating to heat the water only the boiler doesn't come on. The light on the panel is on but nothing is happening outside with the boiler. When we turn on the other zones they work fine. I should also mention that when the stove is lighting and we direct the heat from that to the hot water zone the water does heat up. So what I'm wondering is: is this a plumber problem or an electrician problem, i.e. does the problem lay with the boiler itself or the connection from the electrical operating panel to the boiler?
 
a lot of detail in a few words! 1. the boiler ie the oil fired one did not fire up for hot water BUT did it fire up when asked for central heating? 2. when you turn on other zones does the oil boiler fire up?

have u easy access to the 3 zones valves i take it they are 2 port valves and if so what is the make of the valves and the make of boiler and do you have thermostats as well for the heating ie on wall?
 
Sounds like a motorized zone valve problem, in that the auxillary in the valve is not calling the boiler to fire.

What type of zone valve is on the hw circuit? You should be able to replace the head only. Depending on how it is wired, it may fire the boiler when switched to manual position, but not normally.
 
Forget to mention that if house is less than 12 months old, it will still be under builder's warranty and the part will also be still under warranty.

First port of call should be to contact the builder.
 
The builder will probably direct the plumbing contractor to attend and sort out the problem.
 
Contacted the builder who sent the plumber and all now appears to be working again.

I have no idea about the above.....that's what husbands are for :D !!!
