Horrible smell in downstairs Toilet

I just bought a house and I discovered there is a strong smell in the guest toilet downstaits and this smell is so sickening and nothing sems to work in shifting it. Has anyone has the same experience or what can i do to get rid of te smell? The house is about 3-4yrs old and in very good condition.

is it a sewage smell or is it like fish .if it is the latter chech light fitting as it could be the lamp holder overheating due to the bulb being the wrong wattage .max size for plastic fitting 60 watt.
 
Yes it certainly smells like overheating electric bulb holder

Often thought to be ghost like presence and also causes some people to tear house apart looking for dry rot.
