Homeowner struggling to get back home given rent-free to refugees

And another one:

A man who alleges he has been living rent-free for more than 15 years in a six-bed house in south Dublin has persuaded the High Court to overturn a finding that he was validly served with a lease termination notice.

I am not sure tax policy and renter rights are so interconnected.

It would be possible to tax landlords heavily but not give tenants immunity to do whatever

Landlords are already taxed heavily, which is a major contributor to the high rents we see in the market.
What this comes down to is the necessity to interact with the structural and individual incompetence of the State sector.

Seems to have been badly managed.

That Community Sponsorship accommodation programme was always for two years (still is according to this website)

Do the Irish Refugee council and the red cross not consider the part4 rules when looking for a two year agreement from property owners? They should have a responsibility to give clear information up-front to community groups who participate in the programme. Many people who would like to help have no knowledge of the very complex tenancy laws here.
