Home renovation insurance for occupied house

I have recently started renovating my house while I continue to live there. The work includes putting in a new kitchen, new bathroom, wall and attic insulation, new wooden flooring, changing a few windows and the installation of a gas central heating system. I am doing all of the renovations myself apart from the heating system where I will be using the services of a registered gas installer. I am wondering whether I need to have specific building/public liability insurance in place for this work? I have ordinary building insurance but I am unsure if this covers me.
Thanks in advance Delfio

It's your own property. you would never be able to make a successful claim against yourself for negligence. So you dont require public liability.

Or is what you are trying to say is do you need public liability cover for the guys coming in? Your household policy covers your liability as property owner and that is all you need.

Most household polices state the house must be lived in, and not unoccupied at any time during the term for more than a specified number of days. Be sure you comply with those criteria or arrange alternative/ additional cover.
