We have just moved house and arranged house insurance through the bank. We've just received a letter from the bank saying that since we are deemed to be in an area at risk of flooding, the insurer will not cover us for flood or storm damage.
We are not exactly sure what has deemed us to be high risk, a previous claim at this address (unlikely) or the area (we are by the sea), the insurer is coming back to us on this.
Either way we want to make sure that we have flood cover, I don't want to be worrying everytime there's a shower of rain.
Is anyone else in an at risk area? What kind of cover do you have, is it more expensive, what insurers are you with??
