Home ins, when to set date for it when buying new home

Hi,

I am buying a house am a FTB with many questions. I am organising my home insurance. i want to send details to the Mortgage provider but I am unsure what date to insure from. I will need the insurance to get my cheque from the mortgage company but I am not sure what date the sale will close, do i guess a round about date?

you can, but remember, lender will not release cheque until they are sure that you have the property insured and their interest noted thereon.

Hi thanks for reply. I spoke with insurance company and they said to pick a best estimate date, they would then issue the letter of indemnity and i could ring them once i know the correct date. but this way i would have papaerwork ready for lender.
