A number of posters have mentioned cgt implications of this recently. The implication is claim 50% esb and leave yourself open to losing 50% of your PPR relief.
Are there any revenue guidelines about claiming a % of home expenses if you are self-employed and don't have a separate office outside of your home?
Will it really have CGT implications when you sell your house? i.e. if you claim a couple of hundred quid on these expenses could you be open to being hit for fifty grand in a few years time? I was under the impression that a credible amount was ok. I can understand that if you claim construction costs in converting a room or garage you could be entering dangerous teritory but esb? Has anyone come accross this in practice? Considering the sums of money involved nowadays this is serious stuff.
