Home carers tax credit. Does state maternity benefit count towards income when they say you have to have income of less than €7,200.

Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. But there is no answer anywhere online. Like, the maternity benefit is taxed but its hardly going to appear on a p60 from an employer is it??
 
I believe it does count. The definition in the TCA is 'total income' with the exception of specific home carer payments from social welfare.
Technically interest / dividend income also counts.
