Mr. L and I are in the planning stages of organising a trip to Goa next Jan/Feb for about 4/5 weeks. We have accommodation (lucky us) in Calengute, northern Goa (private appartement) but would be interested in suggestions regarding travel and food/health. Have picked up the 'lonely planet' guide book to Goa and are starting on that.
At the moment we are looking at flying from Cork to Heathrow, Heathrow to Mumbai (Virgin Airways) and Mumbai to Goa. Anyone out there done this???
The charter flights only do 21/22 days, but I have been told legally you can only stay there for 28 days on a charter. Much better to go and return on a scheduled flight.
Think we are looking at about €850 each return, does this look good.
See on the guide book that you can take a train from Mumbai to Goa, and while it would be lovely to see a bit of India/Goa would it be safe, or even convenient....
Also, while I'm at it, any ideas on good purchases while out there.
