Holiday Pay for part-timer

A business employs someone for one day a week -7.5 hours. Is the employee entitled to 4 days holiday pay a year (20% of 20 days)? What about bank holiday pay?

You should be able to get a reply to these questions on www.employmentrights.ie or give them a call to double check.

They are entitled to 8 % of the hours they have worked as holidays.

IF they worked 30 hours in the month they would be entitled to 2.4 hours holidays.

For a year (52 weeks) worked at 7.5 hours a week = 390 hours worked

390 x 8% = 31.2 hours holidays due about 4 working days.

'Your entitlement to public holidays is set out in the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997. Most employees are entitled to paid leave on public holidays. One exception is part-time employees who have not worked for their employer at least 40 hours in total in the 5 weeks before the public holiday'
