Hire car here, ferry, leave back car there - bring stuff for 1 person

Is this worth it, or even possible - or simply use courier / An Post to box up stuff? Enough stuff for 1 person making long-term move. (Person will fly-back later in 2019 assist family with later move by them.)

It's very difficult to understand what you are trying to do. One think I know about Hire Cars, two different countries causes problems as does a different pick up to drop off location.

I'm not sure any of the Irish car hire operators will allow you return a car to an outlet in another country. They would then have to transport it back here, that wouldn't be cheap, and you'd be paying. If there was a car available the rest of the family didn't need, it might be easier drive that over and bring it back later. Other than that, a courier/ transport company will always work out cheaper than long term car hire.

Use a man with a van. It will work out way cheaper than car hire plus ferry.
