Highest mortgage interest rate in the last 20-30 years?

Hi All

This may be a stupid question but what is the highest interest rate on mortages that was reached in the last 20 or 30 years?

Just curious.

as recently as the late 1980s and early 1990s, mortgage interest rates in Ireland were up around 18%
 
The county council fixed rate for house loans in 1980 was 12.5%. I think rates of 15% prevailed in the early 1990s. Also, In the 80s, you have to have 10% of house price on deposit with a building society for 6 months or a 1 year before they would CONSIDER giving you a mortgage.

I smile when I read some of the posts on AAM about current trends in mortgages and the like and think back...
 
With one of the sub-prime lenders, it is possible to get approval with a rate of 12.45%. MAD!!!
