We are trying to organise my sisters hen night at the moment for the end of March and was wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere in the Mayo/Sligo area? Not going for Westport as another friends hen is there a few weeks later.

Any info would be welcome like prices, accommodation, dinner venues, night life etc

Ballina is very good, was at a Hen night there lately stayed at the RidgePool, you can book apartments or rooms! The residents Bar was the best fun and there were some stags there too!

As for meal we went a place cannot remember the name though, sorry! It was fabulous - it kinda in an archway just as you are going in to the town from Sligo side and we went to the bar and nightclub on sligo road too

Not much good for names of places!!

There is also Carrick on Shannon which attracts quiet a lot of Hen & Stags nights with plenty to do and see, Has some good restaurants and hotels for staying in aswell as great pubs, a night club, disco bars (including one on a boat - [broken link removed])

Went to the Lough Allen in Drumshanbo last year for my sister's hen - had a great time and the hotel, staff and spa were all lovely. It's only about ten minutes by taxi to Carrick-on-Shannon. On the Friday night we ate in the hotel (rate included one dinner) and then on Saturday we went to Carrick, had dinner there, went to a pub for one or two drinks and then down to the Moonriver boat. It was lots of fun and the thing I liked particularly about the boat is that they don't cram too many people in so there's room to move around without stepping on anyone else.

Thanks for all the info, the bride-to-be works in Carrick on Shannon so she doesn't really want to go there as it'd be a bit too easy to meet work people out too!

Has anyone been to Castlebar on a hen before? I'll check out the place in Ballina to see what's available. The apartments sound like a good option....

Breffi house hotel in castlebar is lovely and they have houses and apartments on the estate so it is better for a group of people, and C-bar is lovely to shop in and the night life is good too, check the royal hotel and therte to see if they have any good performances or bands coming too.

Also would Sligo be an option, the Clarion Hotel have apartments too that are supposed to be fab and you could go to the Velvet Room nightclub, where you could have a table reserved with champers and table service all night!

The B and B was lovely had place to ourselves and the murder mystery and outfit hire and meal in hotel was included. Good craic and the town is just the right size. heres the link http://www.thefoxfordlodge.ie/

It was Dillions restaurant as somebody said!
Would highly recommend it!
Also if you are thinking Ballina - the residents bar closes early (ish) but we had all stocked up on some drinks from the off license across the road from the ridgepool and brought the drink down to the 'residents lounge area'.

I would recommend [broken link removed] table service is great. They mind your seats too if you go out dancing.

Clarion indeed have apartments but not within walking distance (taxi)
if you want town centre you could try INNISFREE HOTEL. 45 High Street Sligo County Sligo. Phone, 071 9142014. Fax, 071 9145745. Email, inisfreehotelsligo@eircom.net ...
Its cheap and cheerful and attracts alot of hens and stags. Depends what you're looking for. This place tends to serve all night! It wouldn't be exactly quiet...
