Help with shower pump please!

Hi Everyone, we have a really old apartment but the fixtures aren't too bad. We have a shower pump which needed to switch on in the hall before getting in the shower- simple. However, all of a sudden, it has just stopped pumping the water. The red light next to the switch still comes on, but it doesn't make the noise it used to. I really have no idea how to fix something like this; but I have a feeling I should ask could it be the fusebox? wishfull thinking maybe? going mad at this stage with baths only!!

My shower pump did the same last year and I ended up having to get a new one. However - as a stop gap I was told to reset the pump - there may by a reset button on it - there wasnt on mine and the way I reset it was to turn off the main switch in the box on the wall (ie, the main trip switch) and back on again - this forced my pump to reset. However my pump just kept stopping so ended up needing to be replaced.

Get the name of the pump. It should be written on it. If it is a stuart turner it might need the PCB (Printed Circuit Board) replaced, or the capacitors €50. This is a common fault with these types of pumps. A new pump could set you back 750 euros and whatever to fit it maybe looking at 1k. I've heard stories of plummers saying you need a new one, they buy the new one and fit it. They'll take your old one away, fix it and et-voila, 750 euros for their next customer. This could be said with any trade though in all fairness.
