Hey I have a few questions which I hope someone can answer.
I am starting into Full Time Employment after been out of the workforce for many yrs. I was in college last yr & before that I was on Carer's Allowance for 4yrs.
I have been receiving Jobseekers Allowance for the past month which has been backdated to June.
(I have informed the department I am starting full time work)
See i have a bit of an issue. I was to start college but because I already hold a qualification of Level 5 I couldnt pursue the course. I called the welfare dept to explain why I hadnt started and I was told to call in when I got a letter from the college saying I had not registered.
I called to the welfare with the letter I got from the college and she was very condescending to me.... I was told my claim was closed & she asked why I had not informend them of my situation..... Where I acutally had.. I explained my situation to them and she said "well were not going to just pay you for two weeks, i wouldn't say they would do that, you cant just expect to get paid for two weeks".
I couldn't believe her attitude so now i'm so worried about not been paid... My aunt has helped me out as much as she can & my husband only gets Disability Allowance which pays the rent of €150 (we dont claim rent allowance for specific reasons)...
N.B.
Anyways things will be looking up because i'm starting work & need some information about the tax & what I need to do...
I've called them to say i'm starting employment & they told me on the phone there was no need to call.
I have printed off the rent relief form to post in.
I will be working 37.5 hrs a wk on €9.50 per hour, while my husband claims his disability allowance.
Could you tell me how much I will come out with after tax as I find the whole thing very complicated... I will be applying for the Revenue Assist Scheme from January 2009 also which I believe is extra tax credits.
Sorry this is so long but i felt if you had the jist of the story you'd understand more...
Thanks for all you help in advance but please do not hesitate to contact me if you need some more details....
