Help with major catalogue firm

fed up

Guest
Hi

I really hope someone can advise me what to do. I ordered a Garden Patio Set for €499 on 5th April and it was supposed to be delivered within 28 days. I really want this set
and have waited since last summer for it to be available again.

The delivery people tried to deliver it on 17th April but nobody was at home to accept the delivery. They never phoned beforehand. Since then I've been ringing the customer service section of this major UK firm every three days and getting nowhere. Each representative says that they will chase the order and that it's sitting in a depot in Ireland.

I've also e-mailed and was promised that someone would contact me in 48 hours.. That was over a 100 hours ago and still no contact.

Can anybody please advise what I should do next. In the recent e-mail I indicated that I would be requesting a full refund and would post about my woes.

Thanks

btw - I haven't named the company but I'm sure most of you can guess it anyway!!!

Are the people who deliver it a third party?

I remember waiting for an important package on my holidays last summer. I was at home all day doing some DIY (the house wasnt empty once) and the next morning I got a letter in the postbox from An Post saying they had tried and failed to deliver (a relatively small package) which I found to be a particularly insulting lie as I had been inside the house painting with the front door open all day.
On the day they claimed they attempted delivery, a small chimp could have gotten the package to me. Then the next day instead of trying to deliver it 'again', they send me a small letter telling me to pick it up myself from their depot which caused no end of hassle for me.

MY point is sometimes its the courier companys' fault and not the senders.

It seems to have improved lately, but in the Churchtown sorting office area An Post were just dropping the 'failed delivery cards' in the door with the normal post. Once my wife was in the hall when one came through the letterbox. She ran after the postman and he told her that they no longer had a delivery van, so we had to collect it our self!!

I was putting my bin out yesterday evening and found a large package I had been waiting on lying in the alleyway at the side of my house. No letter or anything to say it was there. God knows how long it was lying there !

I ordered from that company before and they did give a delivery day but with a time of 8am to 9pm!! I went out to the shop at 7.45 and got back at 8.05 and they'd been!!
