Hi All,
Hoping someone can help me out here. Here's the situation: -
An employee of an Irish company will work abroad (Oman) for 1 year approximately. Is there any oppertunity to claim tax back given the employee will not be present in Ireland?
I've been told it's necessary to fill in forms like a P50 and Form 11, and I've also been told that if the employee is paid through an agency in Oman, it will enable the employee to claim some PAYE tax back.
I can't seem to get a clear-cut answer on this from anyone (including revenue).

I hope this is enough info, if you need more details, please let me know.

Cheers.

D.

To break Irish residence you need to be out of Ireland for 183 days in a year or 280 days in a tax year and the preceeding tax year.

If the individual breaks residence, they can claim "split year" residence in the year of leaving Ireland and claim a refund on Form P50.

However, if the individual does not break Irish residence they will be liable to tax in Ireland on worldwide income.
