Hi
We have a bungalow and had a leak in our hot water heating pipes & luckily enough it presented itself obviously with staining on the wooden floor. This is now fixed (by a plumber, not me) after great fun digging up ground etc. This was in a bedroom.
Anyway, we have another problem right beside where the the pipes meet the back boiler - dampness, skirting board wet. Also, the room that backs onto where the chimney is has damp problems on the wall - peeling paint and plaster boasting a bit.
We've removed the plaster board around the chimney exposing the vertical pipes a bit and there is nothing obvious leaking there that I can see or hear but then again, not sure exactly what I would be looking for.
At this stage, my question is - what next? I'm working on the assumption that this actually is a leak. Is it possible that rain water coming down chimney could cause this much damp?
Any advice appreciated
