Help for small businesses

Hi all,

I started my own business in September last year but so far, have not paid myself anything.
Due to the recession, I still can't pay myself anything!
Money is running out now - does anyone know if I can claim anything to help me out? (like income support etc?)

Depending on your circumstances you can claim unemplyment assistance. You do not have cease trading. Talk to your local social welfare office. I understand some people are having problems with some un-cooperative officers. If this happens talk to your TD or councilor. We are lucky here in Co. Mayo we have Michael Ring. He (his wife)will get you exactly what you are entitled to. You may also be entitled to FIS (family Income Supplement) as well as a medical card (full or doctors). BTW I think it is disgracefull that in this information age you still have to get help from your TDs to get what you are entitled to.
