Heat Pump - Dom Hot Water Not Hot Enough

We are nearing the end of our self build. We installed an air to water heat pump running underfloor heating as our heating system. The system has only been up and running for about 3-4 weeks at this stage.

We are very happy with the heating part of the system, but the pump doesn't seem to be heating the domestic hot water to a hot enough temperature, in that all hot water supply only gets a little above luke warm, but never really hot e.g. we never have to mix cold with hot to balance the temp. We've had the plumbers triple check the heat pump settings, and they tell me it's all setup correct.

Has anyone else got any similar experiences with a heat pump?

thanks

There should be a temp set point for your hot water on the heat pump. This is probably set at a low temp at the moment. try turning the set point up and see does it make a difference. I have a heat pump and the water is very hot and have to mix the cold all the time.

thanks aidomoss. the warm water temp is preset and cannot be adjusted, even in service mode. its set to 48 degrees which would be plenty, but that's not what we are currently getting for some reason.

what make is your heat pump?

We have an air-to-water heat pump, which we've just started using in a house we've moved in to. The hot water was set at 48 degrees, but I found that to be not quite hot enough for washing delph, etc. I wouldn't say it was only warm, but it certainly not too hot to hold your hand under. I increased it by 1 degree and that has made a difference, but I think I might increase it by another 1 degree. It's surprising the difference just 1 degree makes.

There just has to be some way of increasing your temperature setting though! Surely it can't be factory-set at 48 degrees? Our system is an Alpha-Innotec unit.

sorry it's supposed to be factory set at 55 degrees, but we're not getting that. I agree, it's crazy that the warm water temp cannot be adjusted, even within a set range. According to the systems manual,

'The temperature of the water sent to the water heater is controlled by the regulating pressure switch and cannot be adjusted.'

I'll have to check that the pump is showing as 55, in case it has been somehow incorrectly set.

we has a similar problem. the technician from Nutherm came out and tweaked it a bit and it really helped. we now have lots of hot water
